In our workshop, we will explore sustainability assessment approaches linked to innovation projects in the built environment. The scope considers the three pillars of sustainability – environmental, social, and economic – using various aggregation methodologies.
First, IMMEC focuses on dynamic modeling of material flows in the building stock across Luxembourg and Germany. We track the presence of contaminants and plastics in materials over time using a prospective LCA approach. Next, CIRCUSTAIN assesses local circular economy initiatives, specifically focusing on PVC from construction sites. MIRACLE supports the development of a Photonic Meta-Concrete through a Comprehensive cradle-to-gate Environmental Impact Assessment. REGEN evaluates urban regeneration interventions. We aim to achieve sustainability without compromising the ecological ceiling while meeting social needs. Finally in ASIRE a holistic assessment and selection tool is developed to reduce the energy poverty and the environmental impact of the residential building stock.
