Derya YILMAZ presented the paper “A Path Towards Citizen-Led Participation for Low-Carbon and Affordable Neighbourhood Regeneration Using Participatory Design Digital Tools” at the 2025 European Conference on Computing in Construction (EC³) and the 42nd International CIB W78 Conference on IT in Construction, held in Porto, Portugal.
The study introduces MUST, an interactive participatory urban planning tool developed to enhance citizen engagement through a tangible user interface. It outlines a methodology for identifying participation needs and integrating them into the tool’s existing features, demonstrated through a case study on mobility regeneration interventions in Laredo, Spain. Participating in the conference provided valuable opportunities to discuss citizen engagement in urban areas with strict heritage protection regulations and to exchange ideas with fellow researchers.
