The Milan Neighborhood Regeneration Office (NRO) was officially presented during the territorial event “Dietrolangolo 2.0 – Cosa c’è Dietrolangolo a Giambellino-Lorenteggio”, held on 17 January 2026 at Studio Barreca & La Varra. The event was promoted by AIM – Associazione Interessi Metropolitani.
Around 40 participants, residents, associations, young activists, cultural actors and representatives of the Municipality, gathered to reflect on the neighbourhood’s stories and future. The meeting presented the results of previous local research, including a lab on perceived neighbourhood boundaries, interviews with social and cultural actors, video storytelling and survey insights.

The discussion highlighted the richness of local initiatives: community gardens, regenerated social spaces, neighbourhood laboratories managing public facilities, local markets and symbolic places of identity. The NRO was introduced as a platform to connect these existing energies and to support a participatory regeneration process centred on sustainable lifestyles, shared responsibility and community empowerment.
The first co-design workshop is scheduled for the second half of March 2026 and will bring together associations and citizens to jointly identify priorities and concrete actions related to energy awareness, everyday sustainability practices and collective behavioural change.
Through this gradual process, listening, connecting and co-designing, the Milan NRO aims to foster local ownership of the energy transition and translate sustainability goals into tangible, community-driven practices.
