On 11 December 2025, over 30 residents gathered at the Beckerich Mill for the REGEN workshop “Voix Populaire – Citizens’ Voices: Co-building the Beckerich of Tomorrow.” The session aimed to actively involve citizens in shaping the future of their village, giving them a platform to share ideas, express priorities, and explore sustainable urban development strategies.

Interactive tools for collaboration

Participants used visual and interactive tools to reflect on public space needs, cultural life, intergenerational connections, and ways to enhance built heritage while supporting the local economy. The exercises encouraged everyone to contribute directly to the planning and co-construction of their community’s future.

Citizens as co-creators

Discussions revealed a strong commitment among residents to be active co-creators of Beckerich’s development. Participants shared priorities for green spaces, public amenities, cultural life, and the local economy. The workshop fostered meaningful exchanges between citizens and project facilitators, demonstrating how community input can guide practical solutions in urban planning and sustainable development.

Building ownership and connections

Beyond generating ideas, the workshop strengthened a sense of shared ownership over local projects and helped participants connect with one another. Many expressed willingness to stay involved in future initiatives, contributing their ideas, supporting projects, and helping implement solutions.

A community-driven vision for Beckerich

By centering citizens’ voices, this workshop marked an important step toward a community-driven vision for Beckerich. It showed how local engagement can inform urban planning, heritage preservation, and sustainable development, ensuring that future projects reflect the needs and priorities of the people who live there.
