In October 2025, the Irish Neighbourhood Regeneration Office (NRO), Raytown Energy Dock, officially opened at the Ringsend and Irishtown Community Centre (RICC).

Located in the heart of Dublin’s historic port-side district, the initiative was created to respond to the specific social and energy-related challenges faced by the Ringsend and Irishtown community.

Community information events: turning knowledge into action

In December 2025, three Community Information Events were organised at the RICC. These sessions brought together academic researchers and professional advisory services to provide hands-on guidance in a welcoming, local setting.

Residents received support to:

  • Better understand and “decode” their utility bills
  • Identify low-cost and no-cost energy-saving measures
  • Explore available supports and schemes

By translating complex energy information into clear and actionable advice, the events empowered households to take immediate steps toward reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Strengthening resilience against energy poverty

Beyond providing information, Raytown Energy Dock is contributing to long-term community resilience. By equipping residents with knowledge and practical tools, the initiative helps reduce vulnerability to energy poverty while fostering greater awareness of sustainable living practices.

The opening of Raytown Energy Dock marks an important milestone for the Irish NRO and demonstrates how locally embedded support structures can play a transformative role in the energy transition.
