The municipality of Beckerich in Luxembourg recently opened a position to recruit a new colleague as part of their involvement in the REGEN EU Project. This role was designed for individuals passionate about energy-efficient, circular neighborhood regeneration and promoting new decarbonized behaviors.

Candidates interested in exploring digital twins and enhancing citizen participation were encouraged to apply. This opportunity offered a chance to contribute to innovative, sustainable projects aimed at transforming communities in line with the REGEN EU Project’s objectives.

Position: Collaborator for the REGENeration of Neighborhoods Research Program

– Duration: 2-year Fixed-Term Contract (CDD)

– Working Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week (flexible contract)

Project Description:

The municipality of Beckerich will serve as a testing ground for the urban regeneration project, coordinated by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). Beckerich is one of four demonstration sites in this research program, which aims to enhance citizen involvement and address key topics such as:

– Energy-efficient building renovations

– Circularity in the construction sector

– The energy sector, with specific studies on Beckerich’s district heating network

Initiative Objectives:

– Promote a low-carbon built environment

– Encourage citizen participation in urban planning

This initiative builds upon and extends the discussions initiated under the ‘Luxembourg in Transition’ framework.

Description du projet : La commune de Beckerich servira de banc d’essai pour le projet de régénération urbaine. Le LIST coordonne ce programme de recherche, avec Beckerich comme une des 4 sites de démonstration. Le projet vise à renforcer l’implication citoyenne et à aborder des thématiques essentielles telles que :

• La rénovation énergétique des bâtiments

• La circularité dans le secteur de la construction

• Le secteur de l’énergie, notamment avec des études prévues sur le réseau de chaleur de Beckerich

Objectifs de l’initiative :

• Promouvoir un environnement bâti à faible émission de carbone

• Encourager la participation citoyenne dans la planification urbaine

Cette initiative s’appuie et prolonge les réflexions entamées dans le cadre de ‘Luxembourg in Transition’.
